Once the outside is clean, it’s just as ugly as it was before, and feels like a waste of time. The inside I like to clean though, it usually only happens every few months, and makes a big difference to how it feels every day. I forgot to take a before picture, it wasn't pretty....

Amen to that. I find washing the work vehicle a necessary waste of time.

I think it really depends on if your situation involves co-workers using the car too.

I used to be the sole driver of “my” work truck, since it was a stick shift, and I would periodically clean the interior. But once the company eventually hired other drivers who could manage three pedals, there was a lot more sharing. The other drivers clearly DGAF, and in the interest of keeping my sanity, I decided to only pick up after myself.

I totally agree. When I had less seniority and drove a worse car, other people frequently drove it but I still tried to keep it clean. Now I drive this car 5 days a week, and it's only sometimes driven on Saturdays by someone else. If they don't pick up after themselves, they get angry notes the next week.

Something I forgot to mention was customers. “My” work truck was just for hauling supplies, but if you’re transporting clients, you might get stuck having to clean up someone else’s mess anyway, whether it’s a coworker or a customer...

Mine, well, “mine”, isn't even insured for non-employees to be in, so that's luckily never a concern
